Ekom Bakarr

Hi, my name is Ekom. I am a dedicated Youth Ambassador. I am driven by a deep commitment to empowering young/vulnerable people, and creating safe, supportive environments for vulnerable communities, regardless of demographics and so-called differences.

My professional journey has taken me across multiple sectors - construction, digital marketing, AI, property management, the film industry, and law. These diverse experiences have shaped my mindset, strengthened my resilience, and given me a wide range of transferable skills that I now channel into youth advocacy and community impact.

The last six years brought challenges, turning points, and achievements that have played a significant role in my personal and professional development. I’ve had setbacks and difficult moments, but each hardship has built my character and sharpened my purpose. Every experience has prepared me for the work I do today.

I joined The Social Switch during a particularly low point in my life, and the support I received from fellow members was more impactful than I can express. That support reignited my sense of direction and helped me realise my passion for amplifying the voices of young people and vulnerable people who feel overlooked, unheard, or held back by mental, physical, or social barriers.

Alongside my current role of being a youth ambassador, in turn, I work personally to achieve my long term goal of having my own youth association. I create content and stream discussions about issues affecting vulnerable youth. What began as a personal outlet evolved into a meaningful platform for advocacy. Hearing the stories and perspectives of young people from different backgrounds fills me with genuine elation and exuberance, and it continually reinforces my belief that every story matters. I could carry on, but hopefully when you read this, you have a little inclination of just what my true passion, this is me!

Growing up with my own set of challenges in an unimaginable environment has given me empathy, insight, and a strong desire to create real change. My own personal health issues, mentally and physically hasn't stopped me.

My long-term mission is to establish a youth association - a dedicated safe space where young people can access support, guidance, and community. Today, as a Youth Ambassador, I remain grounded, grateful, and inspired by the individuals I serve. My work is guided by a simple philosophy:
