The Social Switch Project was launched in 2019 to support young people across London to navigate the digital world safely, build positive online behaviours, and develop the skills needed for employment. Through our programmes, we supported over 1,000 young Londoners with digital skills and employability training, with 79% progressing into jobs, apprenticeships or further education, and with 20% completing work experience or internships. Alongside this, we funded 40 grassroots projects and worked closely with communities, professionals, and partners to tackle the link between online harm and real-world violence.
As the project evolves, our focus is now dedicated to delivering our Online Harms Training for professionals and trusted adults. To date, we have trained over 3,000 professionals, with 91% reporting increased understanding of young people’s social media use and 88% improving their knowledge of associated safeguarding risks. This training continues to equip those working with young people with the tools, insight, and confidence to respond to online harms and support safer, more positive digital engagement.
