Who is this Online Harms Training for?
The Social Switch Project recognises the need to support those closest to young people in dealing with both harmful online behaviour and the real-life violence which can escalate as a result.
Our free Online Harms Training is offered both online and in-person to professionals, parents, and other trusted adults who play a key role in supporting young people.
What will the Online Harms Training cover?
The interactive training will cover a range of topics from over-usage to online grooming, sending nudes to sexting, inappropriate content to body image, online influencers to violence against women and girls. The training will equip you with the skills to:
Build your understanding of young people’s online behaviour and how you can support them to become positive voices online.
Discuss the safeguarding risks associated with social media and how to appropriately respond.
Support you in assessing your own social media practices in relation to young people.
Improve your understanding of the steps you can take to build resilience in young people dealing with potentially harmful content.
Increase your capacity to support young people to be positive voices online.
What have we achieved?
The Social Switch Project has trained over 1500 professionals working with young people to deal with the challenges of and opportunities of the digital world through our Online Harms Training.
100% of practitioners reported increased knowledge relating to supporting young people affected by online harms
88% of participants in our Online Harms Training increased their understanding of the safeguarding risks associated with social media usage.
CPD-Certified:
The Social Switch Project Online Harms Training is CPD-certified. CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is the holistic commitment towards the enhancement of personal skills and proficiency for professionals. The Social Shift Workshop:
The Social Shift is a workshop for students who are at risk of being affected by social media and online harms.
The Social Shift workshop is free and caters to entire year groups, divided into smaller, highly engaging groups. Adaptability is key for us, we can accommodate your provisional requirements and schedule our workshop to suit your timetable.
