Praise’s Journey to The Social Switch Project:
Once Praise completed her GCSEs, she was unsure of what to do next. Looking for a meaningful way to spend her summer, Praise joined Elevation+. She wanted to gain confidence and learn new skills that would support her future education and career ambitions.
Finding Praise Support:
Praise received regular mentoring focused on developing her technical skills and career awareness. She learned video editing, how to record high-quality audio, and received valuable advice about the importance of upskilling for long-term success. Encouraged by her mentor, she took the initiative to launch a YouTube channel aimed at children, combining her passion for reading and childcare with media creation.
Within one week, Praise gained over 40 followers on her channel, a clear sign of her dedication and ability to engage an audience. She eagerly learned to use editing software and recording platforms, producing content independently and improving her media skills.
Outcomes:
Since joining the programme, Praise has developed a strong sense of purpose and clarity about her future career.
She said,
“I feel very confident on the steps I need to take as a young person to develop my future career, and based on the discussions I’ve had with Mr Vito, I’m quite certain that I know where to invest my energy and time to help me in my career path.”
Currently, Praise is continuing to create videos for her children’s read-along channel, building her viewership and actively seeking new opportunities to grow, while also preparing to take steps towards employment or self-employment.
